Directions to ABACUS
ABACUS General Meetings are generally held at the Potrero Branch
of the San Francisco Public Library.
Directions are available

by public transportation.

BY CAR:
NOTE: Make sure your car has GOOD brakes! You will be climbing STEEP hills!

Directions are available for those coming from:
From the Peninsula:
Via U.S. 101 - Head northbound on U.S. 101 and take the Vermont
Street exit. Go straight on Mariposa Street for about six blocks
until Arkansas Street and then make a right turn. Go up the steep
hill for three blocks until 20th Street and then make a left. The
library is in the middle of the block on your left.
ALTERNATIVE: From northbound U.S. 101, take the offramp to northbound
I-280 Port of SF. Exit at Mariposa Street, and follow the Via I-280
directions below.
Via I-280 - Head northbound on I-280 toward Downtown/6th Street
and Take the Mariposa Street exit. Turn left at the signal and you'll
be on Mariposa Street. Drive about five blocks to Connecticut Street
and turn left. Drive up the steep hill for three blocks until 20th
Street and then make a right. The library is in the middle of the
block on your right.
ALTERNATIVE: From northbound I-280, take offramp toward northbound
U.S. 101 Civic Center/Bay Bridge and then follow the via U.S. 101
instructions above.
From the East Bay and Treasure Island:
Head west on I-80 across the Bay Bridge and keep to your left. Take
the Northbound U.S. 101/Fifth Street/Golden Gate Bridge Exit and bear
left onto Harrison Street. Drive one block to Sixth Street and
make a left. Head straight on Sixth Street and onto the southbound
I-280 Freeway. Keep right and take the 18th Street/Mariposa Street
Exit. While on the exit ramp, be sure to stay to the left and go
straight to 18th Street. Turn right at 18th Street. Drive about five
blocks to Connecticut Street and take a left. Drive up the steep hill
for two blocks until 20th Street and then make a right. The library
is in the middle of the block on your right.
From the North Bay:
Head southbound on U.S. 101 and cross the Golden Gate Bridge. Follow
the U.S. 101/Downtown Exit onto the surface streets. You will first
arrive on Richardson Avenue and then onto Lombard Street. Follow
Highway 101 by turning right onto Van Ness Avenue and go straight
across Market Street onto South Van Ness Avenue. Turn left at 17th
Street. Drive on 17th Street for about sixteen blocks (passing under
U.S. 101) until you get to Arkansas Street. Turn right onto Arkansas
Street and drive up the steep hill for four blocks to 20th Street
and then turn left. The library is in the middle of the block on your
left.
ALTERNATIVE: On Van Ness Avenue, turn left at Golden Gate Avenue. Go
straight and street will intersect Market Street at an angle. Stay
toward the right and cross Market Street and now you should be on 6th
Street. Go straight and get on the southbound I-280 freeway. Keep
right and take the 18th Street/Mariposa Street Exit. While on the
exit ramp, be sure to stay to the left and go straight to 18th Street.
Turn right at 18th Street. Drive about five blocks to Connecticut
Street and take a left. Drive up the steep hill for two blocks until
20th Street and then make a right. The library is in the middle of
the block on your right.
BY PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION:
Directions are available for those coming from:
From the Peninsula:
Take any SamTrans bus that will get you to the Daly City or Colma BART
Station and then follow the East Bay directions.
ALTERNATIVE: Take any SamTrans bus that runs along El Camino Real/Mission
Street and then get off at 24th Street and South Van Ness Avenue. On 24th
Street, take Muni line number "48 Quintara-24th Street" eastbound toward Third
Street (_NOT_ toward West Portal Station!). When the bus turns right onto
20th Street, the Library is on the left, so get off at either Arkansas or
Connecticut Streets.
From the East Bay:
Take BART to the 24th Street-Mission Station in San Francisco and get off. Go
up to the surface and take the Muni line number "48 Quintara-24th Street"
eastbound toward Third Street (_NOT_ toward West Portal Station!). When the
bus turns right onto 20th Street, the Library is on the left so get off at
either Arkansas or Connecticut Streets.
From the North Bay:
Take any Golden Gate Transit bus that leads into San Francisco and get
off at the Transbay Terminal. Walk north on Fremont Street and turn
right on Market Street until you see a Muni/BART subway entrance.
Enter BART and follow the East Bay directions.
ALTERNATIVE: Take the Golden Gate Ferry from Sausalito, Larkspur or
Tiburon to the Ferry Building in San Francisco. After exiting the
pier, walk toward Market Street and enter the Muni/BART subway station
and follow the above instructions.
