Awards and Acknowledgements
My collection has reached a point where I can rightfully feel
proud of it, and others seem to agree. In the last year or so I have
been quoted in articles, interviewed for a television show, and won an
award. This page is my electronic trophy cabinet, if you will.
In the News

Interviewed and quoted in PC Portables Magazine, March 1998 in an
article on the history of portable computers. I talked at length
with Mark Brownstein, the author of the article, offering my
opinions on the subject and discussing the computers in my
collection. (Unfortunately, PC Portables ceased publication two
months later.)

September 25, 1998 in an article on the Vintage Computer Festival.
I was described as the "proud owner of a Radio Shack Model 100",
thanks to the diligent efforts of an editor.

Interviewed at the Vintage Computer Festival, September 27, 1998
by Desmond Crisis, for the C|Net television show. We discussed
the portables I had brought for the exhibits, as well as portables
in general. I don't know how much, if any, will be used on air,
but it was a fun experience nonetheless.

Second Place award for most comprehensive collection at the
Vintage Computer Festival, September 26-27, 1998. I exhibited 30
portable computers, highlighting some of the more unusual forms
portable computers have taken over the years.
Published Research

The Kyocera Connection, to be presented at VCF 3.0, Fall
1999, will examine the history, relationship, and differences among
the various Kyocera laptops such as the Radio Shack Model 100, NEC
PC-8201A, and Kyocera's own Kyotronic 85.
